Baylor Softball: Schedule, Tickets, and What Students Need to Know
Baylor softball doesn't get the spotlight that football and basketball do, but if you've ever caught a home game at Getterman Stadium, you already know: the atmosphere is completely different — smaller, louder in a different way, and somehow more personal. And the tickets? Free with your Baylor student ID.
Here's everything you need to know about following Baylor softball as a student, from booking tickets to understanding the Big 12 schedule.
What Is Baylor Softball?
Baylor softball is a Division I program competing in the Big 12 Conference. Head coach Glenn Moore has led the program for 26 seasons, building one of the most consistent softball programs in Texas. The Lady Bears compete from mid-February through May, with conference play running mid-March through early May and the NCAA Tournament typically in late May.
In 2026, the team qualified for their 17th overall NCAA Tournament appearance, earning a bid as a Big 12 representative and facing Wisconsin in the Austin Regional hosted by Texas. That's the kind of consistency that defines this program — they're always in the conversation, even when the Big 12 grind is brutal.
Getterman Stadium: Where Baylor Softball Plays
Getterman Stadium sits at 1900 S University Parks Drive, Waco TX 76706, on the south side of Baylor's campus. It's part of the Jim and Julie Turner Riverfront Athletic Complex — a cluster of fields that also includes baseball's Baylor Ballpark (opened 2023), Betty Lou Mays Field for soccer, and the Hurd Tennis Center.
Capacity is 1,230 seats (430 chairback seats + 800 bleacher seats), making it one of the more intimate venues in college softball. The press box features air conditioning, VIP booth seating, and full broadcast facilities. For a sport that often gets overlooked in the athletic budget, this is a genuinely nice facility.
The smaller capacity works in your favor as a student. You don't need to arrive two hours early to guarantee a good spot. Show up 30 minutes before first pitch, grab a spot on the bleachers, and you're close enough to hear the infield chatter.
How Students Get Baylor Softball Tickets
Here's what most Baylor students don't know: softball admission is free for students. Show up at the gate with your Baylor student ID and you're in. No lottery. No portal purchase. No planning ahead.
For any games against higher-profile opponents, check studentgameday.web.baylor.edu for game-specific rules — but standard home games have no barriers for students. General admission for non-students runs $9–$11 depending on section, and group tickets for 20+ are $6 per person. Even if you're bringing family up for a visit, you're looking at a cheap afternoon.
This stands in contrast to Baylor football (lottery system, limited student sections) and Baylor basketball (student portal with peak-game demand). Softball is simply: show up, get in.
The 2026 Baylor Softball Schedule: Key Matchups
The season opens in February with the Getterman Classic, a home tournament that typically draws Mississippi State, New Mexico, Wichita State, and other programs across four days. It's the perfect introduction to college softball — packed schedule, quality competition, and you can catch multiple games in a single afternoon.
Big 12 Conference play starts mid-March. Key 2026 home series included:
- Iowa State (March 6–8)
- Houston (April 2–4)
- Utah (April 17–19)
- Oklahoma State (April 24–26)
For rivalry atmosphere, the Texas Tech series typically draws the most charged crowd — both programs compete for the top half of the Big 12 standings, and the games tend to be close. West Virginia and Iowa State have also become competitive matchups as the Big 12's talent level has risen.
The Big 12 Tournament moves to Oklahoma City in May (May 6–9 in 2026). Eight teams, single-elimination format — if you're still in Waco after finals, it's worth the road trip.

How to Follow Baylor Softball
Baylor Bears app (iOS and Android) is the most convenient option for live scores, stats, and game notifications. Set an alert for game starts and track pitch-by-pitch from wherever you are.
ESPN+ carries most Big 12 softball games. Check the TV/streaming column on the official schedule — non-conference games sometimes go unbroadcast, but Big 12 matchups are almost always on ESPN+ or ESPN2.

Baylor Softball's Coaching Staff and Program History
Glenn Moore is in his 26th season as head coach — one of the longest tenures in Baylor Athletics. That kind of continuity builds a program culture that doesn't exist in coaches who cycle every 3–5 years. His staff includes Associate Head Coach Britni Sneed Newman (23rd season), assistant coaches Steve Johnigan and Meagan Diaz, and newer additions Jenny and Brad Fuller.
The program has sent multiple players to professional softball over the years. Amber Toven, the team's shortstop, carries a career .300 batting average with 11 home runs, 25 doubles, and 85 RBIs — the profile of a complete player, not just a raw athlete.
17 NCAA Tournament appearances is the program's résumé in a sentence. For a mid-sized Texas university competing against Big 12 power programs year after year, that's genuinely impressive.
What to Expect at Getterman Stadium
If you've never been to a college softball game, the atmosphere at Getterman is different from what you'd expect. It's not the 45,000-person spectacle of McLane Stadium — it's closer to 1,000 fans in a tight space, which makes the crowd feel bigger in a different way.
The student section shows up, the Baylor Line coordinates organized cheers, and the team responds to the energy. On a warm April afternoon against a rival, there's genuinely nothing like it on campus.
Practical notes before you go:
- Parking: Limited lots on University Parks Drive; arrive 30–45 minutes early for high-demand matchups or walk from campus
- Food: Standard concessions (hot dogs, nachos, drinks) — eat before if you want a real meal
- Weather: March and April in Waco are unpredictable; bring a light jacket for evening games
- Double-headers: Baylor regularly schedules two games in one day — these are excellent value for a free student ticket
Centre Apartments and Getterman Stadium: The Walk
Getterman Stadium is about 1 mile from Centre Apartments at 1901 S 11th Street — an easy walk on a spring evening. The Jim and Julie Turner Riverfront Athletic Complex runs along University Parks Drive, which connects directly to the Baylor campus through routes students already use.
For off-campus students, campus parking on game days is limited and often requires a permit. Walking from Centre eliminates that calculation entirely. The same route takes you past Baylor Ballpark for baseball, Betty Lou Mays Field for soccer, and straight to McLane Stadium when football season rolls around.
Centre residents can catch a Saturday home double-header, walk back in 15 minutes, and still make plans for the evening. Our neighborhood page covers the full walkable distances from S 11th Street. If you want to see Getterman Stadium and the walk for yourself, schedule a tour — we'll show you the route.
