Baylor Baseball: Schedule, Tickets, and What Students Need to Know
Baylor football fills McLane Stadium with 45,000 fans. Baylor basketball packs Foster Pavilion. But there's a third sport that Baylor students often sleep on — and it might be the most enjoyable gameday experience on campus. Baylor baseball is competitive, tickets are free for students, and Baylor Ballpark is genuinely one of the best settings to spend a spring afternoon in Waco. If you haven't been, this guide will change that.
The 2026 Baylor Baseball Schedule: Games Worth Circling
The Baylor baseball schedule runs from mid-February through May, making it a perfect companion to the spring semester. Unlike football with its 12-game season, baseball gives you 50+ chances to catch a game — and most of them are free for students.
The 2026 season opened against New Mexico State in mid-February, where Baylor outfielder Tyce Armstrong made history by hitting three grand slams in a single game — only the second player to do so in NCAA history. The season picked up from there with the full Big 12 schedule.
Key Big 12 home series to watch:
- West Virginia (conference opener, mid-March)
- Oklahoma State (late March)
- Houston (late March/early April)
- TCU (mid-April — one of the most-attended series of the year)
- Texas Tech (early May — strong rivalry)
The Big 12 Tournament typically wraps up in late May. When Baylor earns an NCAA Tournament at-large bid — which has happened multiple times in recent years — the Ballpark can also host NCAA Regionals and Super Regionals, which draw loud, intense crowds.

How to Get Baylor Baseball Student Tickets
This is the part most students don't know: Baylor baseball student tickets are free with your student ID. Walk up to Baylor Ballpark on game day with your Baylor ID and get in.
The first 271 students in line each game get reserved seating in Section 102 — the "Baylor Bullpen". This is the organized student fan section, the loudest corner of the ballpark, and where you want to be for rivalry games. After the reserved allotment fills, additional students receive general admission seating (also free).
For a regular mid-week game against a lesser opponent, you can show up 15 minutes before first pitch and still find a great seat. For TCU, Texas Tech, or any Big 12 series, arrive early — the Bullpen fills up, and reserved seats go to students who get there first.
Practical ticket tips:
- No pre-registration needed for most games — just show up
- Bring your physical or digital Baylor student ID
- Tickets are $5-$10 for the general public; students get in free
- For NCAA Tournament games, ticket policies may differ — check baylorbears.com
- Weeknight games (Tuesday-Wednesday) are typically less crowded
Baylor Ballpark: What to Expect
Baylor Ballpark is located at 1612 S University Parks Dr, Waco TX 76706 — right on the south edge of Baylor's campus, about a mile from Centre Apartments and walkable along University Parks Drive. The ballpark holds approximately 5,000 fans and features natural Bermuda grass, making it one of the nicer venues in the Big 12.
Baseball America once ranked it among the top collegiate baseball stadiums in the country, and it earns that reputation on a good spring day. The sight lines are excellent from nearly every seat, the field is immaculate, and unlike McLane Stadium or Foster Pavilion, you're not fighting 40,000 other people to get a concessions hot dog.
What to bring:
- Sunglasses and sunscreen (afternoon games in March-May can get warm)
- A light jacket for evening games (Texas nights cool down fast)
- Cash or card for concessions (hot dogs, popcorn, soft drinks on-site)
- A blanket if you want to sit on the grass berm (general admission lawn area)
The atmosphere is most electric during Big 12 rivalry games and when Baylor is in a pennant race for the conference title. Otherwise, it's a comfortable, low-stress way to spend two or three hours on a spring afternoon.
Baylor Baseball: A Program Worth Knowing
If you're new to Baylor, the baseball program has real history worth knowing. The Bears have won multiple Big 12 Conference championships, appeared in the College World Series (1977, 1978, 2005), and regularly qualify for the NCAA Tournament. The program has produced several MLB draft picks over the years.
The Bears play in the Big 12 Conference — one of the strongest baseball conferences in the country alongside the SEC and ACC. Wins over Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, and TCU carry weight, and the student body takes notice when the team is competing for a conference crown in late April or May.
Head coach Mitch Thompson has been at the helm since 2022, building on a strong recruiting base in Texas. Baylor's proximity to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and Houston gives it access to deep talent pools, and you'll often see future minor leaguers on the field when you attend a game.
Game Day at the Ballpark: A Different Vibe
If you've only gone to football or basketball games at Baylor, baseball is worth experiencing for the contrast alone. The crowd is smaller, the atmosphere is more relaxed, and conversations between pitches actually happen — you can talk to the person next to you without shouting. Groups of friends, couples, and families all coexist comfortably in the stands.
The Baylor Bullpen student section does create genuine noise on big plays — double plays, strikeouts on key at-bats, and walk-off wins bring the house down. Spring baseball has its own rhythm: the slow build of an inning, the crack of the bat, the crowd rising for a late rally. It's a different kind of college sports experience, and a lot of students who discover it freshman or sophomore year make it a seasonal ritual.
For weeknight games that end around 9-10pm, the post-game dinner options near Baylor Ballpark are easy — Ninfa's, Taqueria Zacatecas, and several spots along S 8th St are a short drive from University Parks Dr.
Living Near Baylor Baseball Season
For students at Centre Apartments on S 11th Street, Baylor Ballpark is approximately a mile away — walkable in about 20 minutes along University Parks Drive, or a 5-minute bike ride. During evening games, parking near the ballpark can be limited, which makes living close to campus a genuine advantage. Centre residents can walk or bike rather than circle for parking.
Spring semester is also when Baylor's walkable campus comes alive: the weather is good, energy is high before finals, and baseball games give you a reason to be outside. Living walking distance from campus means you can catch a midweek game, grab food at Ninfa's after, and be home in 45 minutes without a car involved.
If you haven't locked in housing for next year, the floor plans at Centre include 2BR, 2BR Townhouse, and 3BR options — all within a mile of Baylor Ballpark and about 10 minutes on foot from the heart of campus.
Ready to Be Close to the Action?
Baylor baseball season runs February through May — right through the second half of the school year when campus energy is at its peak. Free student tickets, a great ballpark, and an easy walk or bike ride from South Waco make it one of the most underrated student experiences at Baylor.
